Headworks and Equalization Tank construction

Special Notes for Residents

PLEASE USE CAUTION on Bliss Lane as Senior Center traffic and Construction traffic are both using this roadway during construction hours

Location

North of Lakeshore Boulevard and East of Bliss Lane

Description

Construction of an underground 15 million gallon equalization tank to store flows during storm events until it can be treated. Building of a new headworks facility for screening of incoming flow to the plant and equalization tank to remove debris, grit and grease

Purpose

The headworks facility is the first step in the treatment process. Inside this building debris, grit and grease will be removed before flow enters the plant or equalization tank. This new facility will replace the current headworks which was constructed nearly 50years ago and is undersized. The headworks facility will be directly north of the equalization tank. Most of this building will be underground with only a small portion visible above ground level. The 15 million gallon equalization tank will be used during storm events to hold flow until there is capacity within the plant to treat that flow. The area above the equalization tank will be restored to green space after construction.
